Double and Paired Eyebrow Piercing

A pair of eyebrow piercings done with a curved barbell and placed vertically through the eyebrow. This piercing draws attention to one’s eyes and upper face, either opening the gaze or intensifying it. Placement can vary but is usually towards the outer end of the eyebrow, just past the arch, as this location tends to be aesthetically pleasing on almost all faces. Your piercer will work with you on proper placement to ensure symmetry and aesthetic appeal.

Swelling and Bruising: These piercings often swell slightly, and some people can get bruising—an unlucky few can even get a black eye. Swelling usually subsides within a day or two, though bruising may take a couple of days longer.

Proper aftercare is essential for a smooth healing process and to prevent complications. Here are some key tips:

  • Clean Regularly: Gently clean the piercing once a day with a saline solution or a piercing aftercare product recommended by your piercer.
  • Avoid Irritants: Keep the area free from makeup, hair products, and other potential irritants. Avoid touching the piercing with dirty hands.
  • Be Mindful: Avoid touching or playing with the jewelry to reduce the risk of infection and irritation.

Frequently Asked Questions:

  • Do you have to trim or shave off my eyebrow to pierce it?:
    • No, we can pierce any sort of eyebrow without extra cutting or shaving. If you already shave off your eyebrows and draw them on, the piercing will be placed where the brow normally is, not necessarily where you draw it.
  • What happens when it “grows out”?:
    • Any piercing that goes through flat skin, such as an eyebrow piercing, will usually migrate towards the surface of the skin over time. If the piercing is being rejected, remove the jewelry to minimize scarring. If you still want an eyebrow piercing, you can get it done again once the original piercing is closed and the brow looks and feels back to normal.
  • Can I still pluck or wax my eyebrows?:
    • Yes, you can still wax, pluck, or shave your eyebrows, provided you are cautious and careful around the piercing. Once your eyebrow piercing has fully healed, you can temporarily remove the jewelry, wax or pluck the area, and then put it right back.
  • I’m really swollen and bruised. What’s wrong?:
    • Bruising and swelling are natural reactions to trauma. Treat swelling with cold packs and elevation, and use anti-inflammatories as directed. Avoid blood thinners like alcohol and aspirin. If you notice bleeding, apply cold packs and direct pressure to the area.
  • Can’t you hit a nerve or blood vessel that will screw up my face?:
    • An experienced, informed piercing professional can easily avoid major blood vessels and nerve endings. By pinching and feeling the area before piercing, the piercer ensures your safety.
